Daily writing prompt
What gives you direction in life?

My first thought was to say, God. I get my direction from God, but I know better. How many people have we seen on TV or face to face who claim to be a spokesperson for God. Don’t get me wrong. I really do believe in God, and I pray. I don’t go to church, however. I once sat in an empty church, more than once actually, and I loved it. I still do. I realized that I have no issues with God. It’s all the people in church that turn me off. Too much politics, being judged. I keep my Spiritual life simple. I open my heart. I spend time in Nature.

To answer the question for today–I will say my girlfriend Debbie and her dog give me direction. Before meeting her, I lived life like many Americans do, moving from town to town, changing jobs. Americans were once described by a French Ambassador as being “rootless.” That was me.

Living with Debbie and Bentley gives me direction. I have a person and an animal to love and care for and help every day, well most days. I count my lucky stars that I met them. Debbie, her family, and Bentley all think the world of me. As an old man, I have found a nest of love and mutual respect. I have a circle of friends. We go dancing from time to time, and we have dinner with our friends often. We also give each other space to be ourselves.
